Books, Books & more Books

We have full bookcases in every room in the house! These are floor to ceiling in the spare room...Photo albums from the past 20 years and books galore! Probably can spot a few Stephen Kng in the bookcase--maybe because his books are so thick!
And James Patterson in this one....... I went to the library this morning---I had requested a list of new books a week or so ago--5 will be ready to pick up tomorrow! I am buying very few new books now--one way to save a little money ( Actually just bought the latest from Erica Spindler, but that will be it for awhile). So I will have the new books from Jodi Picoult, James Patterson, Jackie Collins, Kristin Hannah and Michael Palmer--guess I'll be doing alot of reading in the next 2 weeks!

Haha! My house looks like that, too! Plus I have two huge 'to be read' piles in my bedroom and a big stack in my office. I just took a couple of boxes of paperbacks to Half Price books and got $23 for them. That will buy a lot of new ones on amazon used list. :)

I actually put round orange stickers on the ones I haven't read yet. I usually donate the ones I read to the library.

Ann, I quit buying books when I started paying out-of-state tuition for my son back in 2000. There's a freedom in checking a book out from the library and tossing it back in the bin with no regret if you don't like it! And the computerized hold system is so easy. I'm waiting for the new Jodi Picoult!

I utilize the library quite a bit, but do like a few paperbacks for travel. I have taken library books to the beach and it makes me feel a bit naughty. :)

I love the state wide system here in CT to borrow books-- Do you have something like that in AZ & TX?

I buy paperbacks quite often----like to take a bunch that I can leave behind when we go to Isla. That's when I go to the used bookstore--or when I find a new author I like & need to find all the older books they wrote.

Some of our guests leave books behind - and I just put them on our shelf for someone else. One day I'll put some baskets together for the three locations and call them the reading basket. There's something comforting about a shelf full of books.

Can I come over and play? When I was little, my father would not encourage me to continue friendship with kids whose families had no books and called magazines books...I'm just saying. Lovely situation you find yourself in!

I already have quite a stack of books here in the Isla apartment. I put my initials on them and a check mark after I have read a book.

You are my hero! I would love to hang at your house for the weekend. This is my dream house. Not just full bookcases in one room, but all throughout the house. I have tons of books in storage and can't wait for the day to bring them back out and display them proudly. I'm at the bookstore several times a week. I always have a stack of 5 books that I'm reading (fiction, inspirational, photography, and so on). I buy used and new. I just love soaking it all in. Right now, I have 4 books in my bag that I carry to work and I actually bring at least one of them out during the day. Thank you MOM for my love of reading!!!

Ann, one of the reasons I switched to the library was because my bookcases were all loaded and I still had boxes in the garage. English major! Anyway, Chandler Library has its own online system, and I can also access a statewide system including the universities from their website.

Jana, I take library books to Isla all the time and try not to get sand between the pages! I left my own copy of Ladder of Years in the seatback of my return flight back from Mexico in November. It had my diary from that hairy night with Ida at the Rocamar in it. I bet someone found that and thought I was nuts!!!
