Monochrome Monday

The sun was out & it was fairly warm ( low 50s ) and the cat wanted to be outside!  He loves to lay down on the warm slate tiles & soak up the sun!
This is our 24 yr. old, Tuck.

Monochrome Monday- Sweeping the Street

Most mornings I would see this gentleman out sweeping the street at the end of Carlos Lazo.

New Bakery on the Block--Rooster On the Go

Last year these buildings were just being built so it was a surprise to see them all finished when we arrived in January.--and all occupied!

The bakery is part of Roosters on Hidalgo, there is also a nail salon, Frida and a couple of other places.  All of this is across from Hortencia's, near Poc-Na.

I went in right after Barlito's had closed for a month--these cinnamon rolls were good, but not as good as Barlito's.  The cookies were amazing!

Usually they had chocolate chip & oatmeal raisin & they were huge!

Different kinds of muffins --one time I bought blueberry muffins & they had peanut butter in the middle!

Banana Bread...

Piroshkis--they are a stuffed bread--we tried one stuffed with hamburg & cheese--delicious & one was enough for us to split.

It's nice to have something like this over in the area where we stay --I tried a variety of their offerings and liked all that I had!  Yummy smoothies too!

At Least Someone is Enjoying the Snow!

We have a few chipmunks that live in our stone wall & under our back steps.  This morning they were out playing all over on the patio!
So I got my camera & took some photos!  ( what a surprise!)
They zipped around very quickly--would have liked to have shot some video but they were too fast!

 How's this for a pose?

Merry Christmas!

I found two Christmas dinner photos & couldn't decide which one to post so here they both are!
The top one is at my maternal grandparents in 1951--my Mom on the left, her Father at the head of the table, then 2 family friends and me!
This one is at our house in 1955.  I know it's hard to tell but the tablecloth is felt with felt cutouts sewn all over it--made by my Mom.  That's her on the left, then my sister Judie and my paternal grandmother Copeland.
I have really enjoyed sharing all these photos--they have brought back a flood of memories!

Day Twenty Four--- 1 Day til Christmas

A favorite photo of mine--the colorized version of a photo taken for the family Christmas card--early 50's
