Irises & Butterflies

I noticed that a few of my irises had finally bloomed so I thought I'd get some photos. So nice to see a little color in the yard. I really have to work on getting more late spring flowers so there isn't such a void between the tulips and the lilies....
But then I spotted this beautiful butterfly flitting around amongst the flowers & shrubs. It was having a hard time finding anything to feed on since not much is blooming! A shot of the outside of the wings--so pretty!

And the inside....Once the rhododenron flowers open, there will be many more butterflies to photograph. Great to see the 1st of the season--gives me hope that eventually it's gonna warm up! ( in the mid 30's overnight here last night!)

Great shots, Ann. Around here, many people plant several varieties of iris that bloom at different times. Every year, I plan to get some clumps of earlier blooming ones from a friend who has plenty to spare, but I have yet to do so. She has a variety that blooms right after the tulips are finished. Even the late-blooming iris are bloomed out down here, and now the daylilies are starting to open.

Beautiful, Ann. I particularly like the second one...the dark fuzzy background really makes that iris pop!

Vee, I'm a procrastinator, too! I always say I'm getting more flowers, but rarely do. My yard is so shady I don't know what I'll do next year --the trees have really grown alot!
Deb--thanks--they are very pretty. Hope to divide this year & have more!
