Ever seen these in your yard?

I'm sure they're a weed of some kind....they are growing behind a concrete wall off our patio. Only in about a 6 foot area. I noticed them one day last week when all the flowers were closed up & they looked like miniature tulips.
The next day iI went out with the camera & they were all opened & the petals were already falling off!

I love walking around and finding new things blooming in the yard--even if it is a weed!

Beautiful weeds Ann! I used to get some pretty flowering 'weeds' in the forest behind me in Bellevue. Sweet woodruff? But nothing as glamorous as that!

Ann, if these are weeds, they're gorgeous and I'd have a tough time killing them. I'd much rather have these than dandilions.

They remind me of Merrill Magnolia blooms (http://www.flickr.com/photos/kimberlygauthier/4415105159/).

So pretty.

They are definitely nothing we planted! I noticed more coming up yesterday--will try for a photo of the flower when just growing--looks just like a tulip!

I believe what you have growing is Bloodroot. It is a very good herb, as well as the dandelion. Dandelion is a fabulous medicinal!
