Thinning out the forest.....

Every 5 years or so we try to thin out the trees that surround our house--to let a little light in & let the grass grow again. So we hired a friend's son to come over with a chainsaw.......Before After...still many small saplings that could come down, but enough for now. All the cut trees & limbs were piled up to make homes for all the critters that call our woods home.
So nice to see the sunlight through the trees again! My herb garden was totally shaded & not growing much at all...hope this will help. And as you can see in the next photo, hopefully some of the lawn will come back! ( Yes, we spread more grass seed!) All across the bottom of the photo is where grass used to be!

You live in such a beautiful area, Ann. And everything is so green! Everything is brown in Texas these days.

Thanks, Deb!

I suppose with all the rain you've had, there's been no chance of wildfires thinning the trees, lol. It really is pretty - and so peaceful looking.

Vee--no chance--it's very wet! It is very peaceful--we can't see another house don't hear most of the street traffic....just the birds & other wildlife!
