Books, Books & more Books

We have full bookcases in every room in the house! These are floor to ceiling in the spare room...Photo albums from the past 20 years and books galore! Probably can spot a few Stephen Kng in the bookcase--maybe because his books are so thick!
And James Patterson in this one....... I went to the library this morning---I had requested a list of new books a week or so ago--5 will be ready to pick up tomorrow! I am buying very few new books now--one way to save a little money ( Actually just bought the latest from Erica Spindler, but that will be it for awhile). So I will have the new books from Jodi Picoult, James Patterson, Jackie Collins, Kristin Hannah and Michael Palmer--guess I'll be doing alot of reading in the next 2 weeks!

Finally!

I've been checking every day since the snow started to melt & finally today I saw some signs of spring! These snowdrops are the 1st flowers to come up in the yard..... There are small little spikes of croci coming up, too! We're supposed to get rain for a few days so maybe it will wash away the rest of the snow! Can't wait for more flowers!
I deleted the post I did yesterday because there was a spam comment that I couldn't get rid of! Hope it was an isolated incident--if not, I will have to initiate comment moderation.

Seso Loco's--Isla Mujeres

Love the new location! We found Seso Loco's in the 1st week it was open about 4 years ago. We enjoyed going there over the years and were sad to hear that he was closing the Hidalgo location and moving mid way down the island. "Seso" ( Jesus) chose a great new location; not too far from town & more convenient for many people. We ended up going out 3 times in the 2 weeks we were on the island!
"Seso"

The dining area--they also do a great take out and delivery business

The bar

Geraldo and Seso

One of the many varieties of pizza offered

Mayan Chicken--chicken with achiote, peppers & onions wrapped in foil & baked

Aztec Soup--yum!

Statues/Sculptures

So nice to see this statue to the fishermen without all the wires around it! On most of my early morning walks I passed by the turtle sculpture and was surprised to see where one of the turtles is missing! Was it hacked off or did it come off on it's own due to weather or something like that? maybe it's been like that for awhile & I just didn't know!

Mohawk Bison

Woke up to more snow this morning--will it never end! This is the view down our street at about 10 am today--our driveway is on the right ( where the trash bin is!) Remember a few months ago I did a post on our neighbor's bison? Well, this week he reinforced the fencing and then moved them into the pasture closest to the road. The name of the business is "Mohawk Bison"--our road ends in Mohawk St. Forest & we're near Mohawk Mtn.
Just a few shots of the bison.....

I think they will be interesting subjects of lots of photos!

Latest Sculpture at the Vistalmar

Do you remember the abstract piece from last year and the wonderful shell fountain from 2008? Hope so, because I went to look for photos of them & couldn't find them! I know I have them, but there's too many pictures to look through! Here's this years--a tree made out of coconuts!
It was made by Mark --he lives at the Vistalmar about 6 months of the year & does these interesting objects d'art! I heard he's thinking of doing a mosaic on one of the walls on the 3rd floor with all the seaglass he's collected!

Mocambo--Isla Mujeres

Had been planning to try this restaurant on the Becky's recommendation & it didn't disappoint! One night we hadn't decide where we wanted to eat; we were going to just walk around a little. Down the street from where we stay is a time share guy. We said hello to him when we walked by & he asked if we knew where we were going to eat? He said he wanted to suggest Mocambo & gave us tickets for a free drink for each of us--that helped us decide where to eat! It was fairly early ( around 6-6:30pm) and there wasn't another person there! The waiters told us they were very busy at lunch time and later in the evening. We asked quite a few questions about the menu & the wait staff was very helpful. Here's what we decided on: Lou had a whole grilled fish....
Alan and I had chicken fajitas...............

And Deb had Seafood soup--it was so good we had to go back another day for lunch so Lou could have it!

We had 2 good meals there-try it out! ( Nice, clean restrooms, too!)
