New Month, New Year!

The 1st 3 photos were taken on the same day --2/8/2012.  I go out & walk a few miles every morning starting at sunrise when we are on Isla.  Alan likes to sleep in so this gets me out of his hair!

I walk down the malecon along the Caribbean side of the island--I love that it keeps getting longer!

Every day the sunrise is different!

My photo  processed by Caribe on Canvas
One of my favorite photos from last years trip--enhanced by Caribe on Canvas!  I have this blown up  & hanging in my bedroom!  I hope I get some good shots this year & can get a few more made.

Beautiful!

Some of the most beautiful hibiscus (i?) are growing around where we stay on Isla.  I love to walk around by the pool at Maria del Mar & look at all of those, but this was taken right across the street from Seahawk--part of the hedges.

Beach at Punta Sur

On our golf cart day we stopped at Punta Sur for awhile & I walked around.  This area ( In the photo) is so unspoiled because it is unreachable from the land ( unless you're a mountain goat).  I suppose you could get there by boat, but most likely that doesn't happen often.

The First Sunset I've Seen All Week!

We were visiting friends last night so I actually got to see a sunset!  Seveal nights it's  been rainy or cloudy, but I usually don't think to stop whatever I'm doing to look at the sunset.
 It was a pretty one!
We were getting to see some friends we hadn't seen in a few years so it was even better!
Then off to watch some football....and we all know how that turned out!
Not doing much of any post processing or I would have taken the time to crop some of these....

Unearthing lots of goodies!

We are making an effort to clean alot of extraneous stuff out of our house.  After my brother & I had to clean out my Aunt's I was determined not to leave my house in the same shape.  Have been filing one bag a day.
But yesterday I found a large bag of shells & seaglass I had to have brought home from Isla a few years ago  & somehow it ended up in the attic.  Everything was wrapped well so nothing seemed to be broken--not even the sea urchins( the big one was chipped when I found it).  And I finally looked up the names of these cone shaped shells--called Siphonariidae--i usually find quite a few of them.

it's quite a haul... this is only a small portion of it!

A favorite

One of my favorite videos from Isla--even if you don't watch--just listen to the sounds of the birds & the waves! This was taken in 2008. Watching these keeps me going til the next trip! Enjoy!

Punta Sur

A small part  of the large group that we have gone to Isla with this trip.  This was taken on a golf cart day a few years ago when we were all down for the Barracuda Bash in January.   That says alot--that we all get along enough to take another trip together!  Should be on the island in the early afternoon today!

Qubano's

Yesterday before we had to back to Velasquez for the return of the fishing boats, Kathy, Deb & I went to Qubano's for lunch. Started out with watermelon water.....
Then on to a serving of Hungarian potoes, split between the 3 of us.
And topped it off with the Toston sandwich! Yum! The sandwich is unique, using pressed & grilled plantains instead of bread...

Seso Loco's--Isla Mujeres

Love the new location! We found Seso Loco's in the 1st week it was open about 4 years ago. We enjoyed going there over the years and were sad to hear that he was closing the Hidalgo location and moving mid way down the island. "Seso" ( Jesus) chose a great new location; not too far from town & more convenient for many people. We ended up going out 3 times in the 2 weeks we were on the island!
"Seso"

The dining area--they also do a great take out and delivery business

The bar

Geraldo and Seso

One of the many varieties of pizza offered

Mayan Chicken--chicken with achiote, peppers & onions wrapped in foil & baked

Aztec Soup--yum!

Mocambo--Isla Mujeres

Had been planning to try this restaurant on the Becky's recommendation & it didn't disappoint! One night we hadn't decide where we wanted to eat; we were going to just walk around a little. Down the street from where we stay is a time share guy. We said hello to him when we walked by & he asked if we knew where we were going to eat? He said he wanted to suggest Mocambo & gave us tickets for a free drink for each of us--that helped us decide where to eat! It was fairly early ( around 6-6:30pm) and there wasn't another person there! The waiters told us they were very busy at lunch time and later in the evening. We asked quite a few questions about the menu & the wait staff was very helpful. Here's what we decided on: Lou had a whole grilled fish....
Alan and I had chicken fajitas...............

And Deb had Seafood soup--it was so good we had to go back another day for lunch so Lou could have it!

We had 2 good meals there-try it out! ( Nice, clean restrooms, too!)

Some panoramics from Isla

I'm in the process of cleaning off an older computer, making sure I have Cd's of photos or transferring them to one of the other computer in the house. Came across a few panoramics that were taken 3 or 4 years ago--with a film camera! One of the photos is at the beginning of the Bash & everybody is wearing their orange shirt--will have to go look & see what year that is!
* Checked & it was from 2006-----This is a view from the Vistalmar roof.

Waiting to start fishing

And the boats starting out in the morning.

Now that our trip is only a few months away, we start thinking about it more!
