Mohawk Bison

Woke up to more snow this morning--will it never end! This is the view down our street at about 10 am today--our driveway is on the right ( where the trash bin is!) Remember a few months ago I did a post on our neighbor's bison? Well, this week he reinforced the fencing and then moved them into the pasture closest to the road. The name of the business is "Mohawk Bison"--our road ends in Mohawk St. Forest & we're near Mohawk Mtn.
Just a few shots of the bison.....

I think they will be interesting subjects of lots of photos!

Latest Sculpture at the Vistalmar

Do you remember the abstract piece from last year and the wonderful shell fountain from 2008? Hope so, because I went to look for photos of them & couldn't find them! I know I have them, but there's too many pictures to look through! Here's this years--a tree made out of coconuts!
It was made by Mark --he lives at the Vistalmar about 6 months of the year & does these interesting objects d'art! I heard he's thinking of doing a mosaic on one of the walls on the 3rd floor with all the seaglass he's collected!

Mocambo--Isla Mujeres

Had been planning to try this restaurant on the Becky's recommendation & it didn't disappoint! One night we hadn't decide where we wanted to eat; we were going to just walk around a little. Down the street from where we stay is a time share guy. We said hello to him when we walked by & he asked if we knew where we were going to eat? He said he wanted to suggest Mocambo & gave us tickets for a free drink for each of us--that helped us decide where to eat! It was fairly early ( around 6-6:30pm) and there wasn't another person there! The waiters told us they were very busy at lunch time and later in the evening. We asked quite a few questions about the menu & the wait staff was very helpful. Here's what we decided on: Lou had a whole grilled fish....
Alan and I had chicken fajitas...............

And Deb had Seafood soup--it was so good we had to go back another day for lunch so Lou could have it!

We had 2 good meals there-try it out! ( Nice, clean restrooms, too!)

Signs of Spring

A few weeks ago a friend gave me 2 pots that they said had bulbs in them. So I brought them home & started watering them. One pot has muscari and tulips in it and the other pot has an amaryllis( It's only about 2 inches out of the pot so far)
The tulips are starting to open--it's exciting--almost every time I walk by, I check to see if it's grown any.......

I love this shot!

The Sun is Out!

After a week of snow and rain , the sun finally came out this morning! Tuesday we got 10+ inches of snow, then Wed. a little snow, Thurs. it poured, so alot of the snow went away & then Fri. another 5 + inches. The plow guy came about 5:30 am today! ( for the 3rd time this week!). The view down the driveway--it's very pretty & because I didn't have to go anywhere it was great!
When I decided to go out & take a few photos, Squeak decided to go along--at least to the door! He stuck his nose out & thought that's enough! I try to shovel a path outside the back door so the cats will go out a little ways. of course, Rafe loves the snow!

Butterflies at Punta Sur

On our recent trip to Isla we made the obligatory visit to Punta Sur with some friends that were newbies. was really surprised by the numbers of butterflies that were all around ! Here's a few of the ones that didn't come out blurry! If you enlarge them, you will see a lot more detail.

It's Snowing!

I think we may actually get the snowstorm the weatherman predicted! For the last few hours it's been coming down more than an inch an hour...and still going strong! It's very pretty and since I hadn't planned to anywhere today, it's great! Just took a break from cleaning up computers ( giving our oldest one to my Mom next week) --I needed to get all the photos off of it & delete programs I know she won't use. Got a pork roast in the crock pot and it smells wonderful!
Rafe loved being out in the snow, but loves being in by the stove more! Cleaned the snow on the walkway to the dog's pen & noticed the accumulation on the chain link fence--interesting isn't it?
