I have succumbed...
I ordered & received this netbook last week! Saw a great deal at Costco--have been thinking about getting one for awhile. Was planning on getting one after the fair ( when I get my "salary") but decided it was too good a deal to pass up... The netbook, wireless mouse, case, 6 hr. battery, and external disc drive for under $400.00. Checked with my favorite tech guy & he said go for it! It's great! I've used the fair's laptop, but never owned one...will be getting rid of our older computer.

I love my Netbook! You should have mentioned it at the party- we got our Acer for $329....we plan on doing the same thing- downloading photos while on vacation....it also has the wireless thingie installed so we'll be able to use it on Isla instead of going to the Cafes....I love that you can use it for 6 hours without the battery quitting....ours is pearl white- what color did you order?
Another netbook lover here, Ann, and mine also has a built-in card reader - as does my desktop computer, for that matter. So convenient! I'm sure you'll enjoy it. Was it your birthday present?
I want to see a blog on how you like it later. I have been thinking about getting one of these myself sometime. Let me know how you like it (or not) after you have time to use it.
Very cool Ann. I switched from desktop to laptop a few years ago and loved that transition. Can't wait to hear how you like the netbook.
Sandia--I got a black one. That's one of the reasons for getting it--vacation since Alan has to keep in touch w/ the shop.
Vee--Mine has the card reader also. I have them in my desktop also. I had decided to buy it anyway, but I guess I could have Alan pay for it & call it my birthday present!
bennie--I've had it a week & I love it! I have a network at home & at the fairgrounds that I can sign onto so I have it on most of the time!
You will be so glad you made the switch. I could never go back to a desktop at home anymore. And I love the "portableness" of the notebooks. And such a deal!
I will still use my desktop at home, but this will be a welcome addition to the mix!
I really like my Asus netbook. It works great for traveling. I only use it occasionally at home since I have a wonderful high powered Dell with a big LCD.
