A Welcome Sight!

Was at a friends house over the weekend & saw this beautiful bird right outside in a tree!  We haven't had cardinals around our house for awhile, so it was a treat to see.

Sunset from the Dock

One evening we went out to the dock at Ballyhoo so a few of the guys could drop a line in the water....don't want to say fishing because none of them caught anything!

 But the sunset was beautiful!

 I usually get lots more sunrise than sunset photos, but this one was great......Then we went into Ballyhoo for drinks!

Taking a break from my Isla photos--the Bison herd is out in all kinds of weather--I stopped yesterday to get this shot!

Playa Norte early morning

Most mornings I walked along the malecon looking for shells & glass, but went one morning towards the end of vacation to walk on North beach before the crowds arrived.  ( Not sure if they ever did when we were there--never seemed very busy)

The Animals next Door...( On Isla )

On any given hot and sunny day, the roof of the building next door would get lots of sunbathers!  The roof was level with our patio so we could see them easily!  ( this is where the iguana in my recent video came from)

 And the neighbor's rooster--he started crowing at sunrise & kept it up throughout the day.  After awhile I think we blocked him out ( of course, I'm usually up at the crack of dawn anyway!)

I'm experimenting with a new format for my blog--would love to hear your reactions--good or bad!  Really wanted to be able to post my photo in this larger size--does it take much longer for you to load them?

Guess who's coming to visit?

We were sitting on our porch when all of a sudden an iguana hopped over from the roof next door & landed in a plant pot!

Our 1st full day of vacation, we went to Ixchel to help our friends move from the penthouse to La Vida Dulce ( both places are great!)  They had already left, so I stopped on the walk way to take some photos before we walked down Juarez.

Hydroponic Tomatoes

Bet you'd never expect to see tomatoes growing on the roof of the Vistalmar Hotel.....Well, the ever ingenious Mark T. has set up a system to grow them.  He lives at the Vistalmar about 6 months a year & has done many artistic displays & last year started growing herbs and other stuff.

 This year he has rigged up a whole hydroponic system to grow several varieties of tomatoes.

 Several were picked while we were there & the consensus was they were great!

Another Beautiful Sunrise

OK, OK So I did do some blog posts while we were on Isla--I just never posted them!
here's a start...promise there will be more!
1-29-11 --another beautiful sunrise here on Isla Mujeres! I got up early & went out hunting for glass & shells--still finding lots more glass than shells--usually it's the opposite!

I always take the time to admire the sunrise--it's so peaceful at that time of day!

I love the garden area of Maria del Mar --they have the most beautiful hisbiscus growing there!

Open Doorway

Was out on our balcony the other day & noticed this  doorway across the way--it's pretty secluded--I only noticed it from up above --think they must have cleaned some brush from around it--never saw it before

All week they have been cleaning brush all the street--looking great!
