A Little Bit of Holland here in CT

This windmill is down the road from the daffodil farm in Litchfield. Not sure why it was built, but it's a private home now!

CSI--Goshen ?

We had a bad storm yesterday afternoon & this is some of the aftermath--my 1st thought was it loks like the chalk drawing they do around a body at a crime scene! We got 5 inches of rain in an hour accompanied by hail, thunder & lightning. Lots of the mulch that I've been spreading over the last week or so is now on the lawn!
On the other side of town a teenage girl was riding her horse back to the stable & both of them were struck by lightning ( both are doing ok now)

Will be spending time this weekend shoveling up the mulch & spreading it again!

New Blooms!

It's so nice to go out most every morning and see new flowers blooming! I was pleased to go go out on Sunday ( between the rainstorms) and see these poppies had opened up. I love the texture of the petals--they look like crumpled paper!

I just wish they lasted a little longer. Guess I should just plant a few more!

Wild Roses

The wild roses are blooming everywhere! I never realized how many we had growing around our property......down by the road.... Closeup of them
Along the driveway......

Along the edge of the front lawn.....

Along the edge of the front pasture........they have a nice light scent. If you drive most anywhere in the area, you would see them blooming along the roadsides!

New Macro shots

Update: Please read the in the comments about the red Lily Beetle & what to do to get rid of them!
Saw this interesting bug on one of my lilies. Love the contrast of the red against the green of the leaves. It's being very industrious--enlarge the photos & you can see lots of pollen gathered on its legs

Can see it better in this one.

And here.....
