early morning rays

Most every morning I was up & out by 6:15 am--ready for a walk on the beach to look for shells and then to take a stroll around town ! Each morning it was a treat to see what glorious colors would be in the sky at sunrise on Media luna beach

Towel Animals

Every day this year we had towel animals or decorations on our bed after our room was cleaned. We have been staying at Sea Hawk for 4 years & it's the 1st time we've had these. The maid, Thelmi, has been there as long as we have--I'm sure longer--she works in the dive shop, too. She does a great job taking care of the place. Here are some of her creations. A baby chick Don't quite understand it, but the chick was done with 2 elephants
All of them together

OK, OK,no more procrastinating!

Been home for over a week now & still not really back in the swing. ( isn't that a strange expression!)
Going out for a little while this morning, but I promise I'll start doing some posts this afternoon--it's not like I don't have hundereds of photos to share!

A Gate to Nowhere...

Most every morning while we were on Isla I got up early ( 6 ish) and went out for a walk. Started out going to Media Luna beach & looking for shells and then went down the malecon and around town. I tried to do at least 2 miles before I went back to the room! This gate is across from Hortensia's--on the back side of it is an open lot leading to the ruins of condos that were never finished ( they have a watchman there everyday though)

The trip to get to Isla--takes too long!

Last spring we had found a direct flight from Hartford, CT to Cancun---a rare thing! Only goes once a week ( on Sat) and not all year round.....But we booked for Jan. & told some of our friends who usually go around the same time. We decided to go to the airport area the night before, so we didn't have to get up at 2 am to be at the airport 3 hours before the flight ( according to the Delta website). Stayed at the Ramada ( the price of the room included 2 weeks of parking)--it was great!
Took the hotel's shuttle over to the airport at 6am for our 9 am flight--Alan was not a happy camper! I had checked on online, printed boarding passes & checked bags. We were able to drop our bags at curbside & proceed directly to security. No lines ( very surprising --it was a Sat.). My carry on was pulled aside for extra checking, but all ok. It took all of 15 minutes & we got to the gate. Our friends, Kathy & Rick showed up awhile later and the plane ride was very uneventful. Their son Steve & his fiancee, Tiffany ( her 1st trip ) were waitng for us at the Cancun airport & we found our USA transfer van quickly. Stopped for beers at the gas station & made the 2:30 ferry.

Rick, Steve, Tiffany and Kathy upstairs on the ferry

Arrived & we decided to walk with a bicycle guy to our room at SeaHawk........more to come.

Don't expect to see many posts til I get home

Once again we are at Jx so I could go on the internet, but we have newbie friends arriving today, so we will be out and about more for the next week. Plus we planned to eat in more! I'm out walking in the mornings--have averaged 5 miles a day! Did 2.2 before 8:30 this morning!
