Our Precious Dog, Rafe--RIP

Yesterday we put our wonderful dog, Rafe to sleep.  He's been sick for some time--having diabetes, lyme disease and a host of other problems.  Over the last month he has steadily gone down hill & this week he couldn't get up the 3 stairs to get in the house--and then couldn't get to the back door.  Mind you he weighed just over 100 pounds so it's not like we could pick him up.
Alan & I are heartbroken--he was  definitely a mamma's boy and by my side whenever I was home!  He always greeted Alan when he got home from work like it as the best thing to happen to him all day!
I don't think a week went by without me taking photos of him--I even had taken some yesterday morning before we had decided to put him down.  This  one of him with his best bud, Squeak was one of my all time favorites!  I hope that Squeak was waiting for him at the Rainbow Bridge!
If you'd like to see more photos from over the 10+ years of his life, just put "Rafe" in the search box in the upper left hand corner of the page--I didn't realize how many posts I had done about him!

Oh NO!!
So sorry, Ann. I'm sure you'll miss him terribly. What a sad thing to watch a good friend go downhill and slip away. Thought he might be doing better.

You know we fell your loss.

Thanks, Deb & Carol! We are taking it day by day & I'm sort of glad we have a trip to Mexico to look forward to!

Ann, I was so sorry to hear about Rafe. It's a hard, hard thing to lose our pets; but you'll always have your memories of him and your precious photos. For some reason, I especially liked the one of you on your knees in the garden with him sitting in front of you keeping you company - so very cute.
