An Update & A Surprise!

Just wanted to let everyone know that Rafe is doing much better.  The Vet has gotten his diabetes under control--now he only has to go once a month to get checked!

He's feeling much better & almost back to normal--just isn't climbing full flights of stairs ( that's because of arthritis)

 And the surprise...I went into our sunroom to start cleaning out plants & lo & behold I found these tomato flowers on one of the plants I was going to throw out!  We've had tomatoes growing in there til December--I just bring the pots in from outside--hopefully we'll have enough sun so that at least one will grow!

Hudson River

Before we went to Vasilows  yesterday, we took a ride to the Hudson River.  I had read that there was a lighthouse in the river nearby & thought I'd like to see it.  Here it is--doesn't it look like one of those little houses you buy to burn incense in? Hudson Athens Lighthouse

It was a drab kind of day , I took a few photos of the river, too.  Here's looking up the river.

 And an interesting tree with a branch hanging off--there were 3 or 4 trees that had branches hanging like this.

Vasilow's

Yesterday my friend Deb & I made another trip to Vasilow's--it's about a 1 hour drive from my house & we didn't stop talking the whole way!Our husbands have been friends since childhood--we met at my wedding & then were out of  touch for 20 years....but picked back up 2 years ago like it had been a week!  We drove down the main drag to the Hudson River--there's a lighthouse there I wanted to see.  Then back down Columbia St to Vasilow's

The smells when you open the door are intoxicating!  Our 1st item was pepitas...between us we bought all that were on display.  Both of us started piles on the counter.....

Jim was in back making something sweet when we arrived, but came out shortly after & had his camera & snuck a photo of me--that doesn't happen often!

A few of the goodiies to choose from!  We had a great time talking about Isla & our experiences there.  And Deb & I told them we'd be back in the spring when we could walk around & explore a little more!
I've been good & only had a chocolate dipped coconut pattie so far!

Macro Monday--Picnik gone wild!

Decided to enhance this photo in Picnik & tried out a few new settings--this is using  HSL filter under sandbox effects--the colors are a little different, but I like it!
