My Mom, Frances E. Copeland ( Betsey) passed away very unexpectedly yesterday. Still kind of numb about it. I thought writing about her a little would help. She was very proud of her service to the USA during WWII. She wanted to join up, but her mother wouldn't sign for her, so she had to wait til she was 21. A few years ago she made a DVD & reminisced about that time in her life. I found out the that she had wanted to be a lawyer!
I had a very idyllic childhood--grew up in the same town & house as my Dad. This is what we call one in the series of the Babushka series-- of Mom & my brother Tom taken by my Aunt!
Mom with 2 of her grandchildren, Julia & Dylan
And the most recent photo I took of her in May. She was a wonderful Mom & a very accomplished woman and she will be missed.

I am so sorry for your loss. My sincere sympathy to you and your family.
My dad was 93, but his death was still a sudden shock. The loss is enormous. I'd like to hear more about your mom, especially those WW II years and the following 1950's. Survival and coping skills ... ambitions and dreams?
Ann, so sorry for your loss. Your mom had such an interesting life! My deepest sympathy to you, Alan, and the rest of your family.
Really sorry for your loss. She sounded like a very strong women and independent for the time she grew up in. You must have wonderful memories of her and what a great idea the DVD was. I'll keep a good thought for you and your family.

So sorry Ann. It's hard to lose your mom, especially when it's unexpected. I lost mine almost forty years ago, and I still miss her today. She left me with great memories and a firm foundation tho, as I can see your mom did also through your wonderful posts.
Thanks to all of you for the kind thoughts & prayers.
Dr Geo--I will try & post more about her in the coming days or send you the info. maybe I can figure out how to put her DVD online!
Ann, I am so sorry to hear this. You have some good memories and photos to help remind you of your mother. WHile that is not the same as picking up the phone to call your mom it will help. It's been over 1 1/2 years since my passed away and I often think about picking up the phone and calling her to tell her something that she would have enjoyed hearing.
Hi Ann, sorry to hear this..and my condolences to you and your family.
Deeply sorry to hear this, Ann. No matter how long we have our parents, it's heartbreaking to say goodbye. I'm thinking of you and sending you love, wishing you peace.
Ann, I'm so sorry for your loss. Your family will be in our thoughts and prayers.
Thank you all!
