Droplets

I am fascinated by water droplets & trying to photograph them

When I went out for the paper today I noticed quite a few after the rain over night.

I shot in manual settings so I would have a bit more control over them--

I had the telephoto lens on, should have used macro--will try that another time!

Hummingbirds

We have a hummingbird feeder outside our kitchen window that has a lot of activity on a sunny day.

Once it stopped rainy this afternoon one bird showed up & has been around for awhile.

Just sitting on the shepherds hook & flying to the feeder every so often.

Not the clearest photos ( taken through the kitchen window)

I took quite a few pictures to get these with the red throat showing

I love having a zoom lens!

Monochrome Monday--Ooops!

I changed the setting on my camera to take B & W photos & forgot to change it back!

So, I took a bunch of photos in that mode!

I uploaded them & saw my mistake, but I like them this way!

Getting lots of chumps of them--so easy to just pop them in my mouth right after I pick them!  Yum!

Friends & Bison

For about a week I had been chatting with my friend, Carol about her coming over to see the bison--she is a painter and wants to take some photos & then create paintings.  So I arranged with my neighbor Theresa to take us on the farm to see them.

Theresa & Carol walking down to the field where the mommas & new babies are.

One of the mommas & babies--there are at least 10 babies so far

And I couldn't pass up a photo of the Highland Cattle--the 2 females are expecting, too!

Spent a fun Sunday afternoon on Isla with Gaby, Marilyn and Miguel ( Gaby's boyfriend)  he's very inventive.  he decided to make a kite--using a teeshirt fot the body and the tail of the kite.

Tough to find the space to fly a kite on the crowded beach on a Sunday afternoon--but they did!

Marilyn!

Success!

Now it's stuck in a palm tree!

Relaxing on the beach --- a fun afternoon!

Spring Flowers and Trader Joes

I went to the "Big City" ( Hartford) yesterday to the Elizabeth Park Spring Greenhouse Show.

It was so nice to see some spring flowers because I don't think we'll see any here--still have at least a foot of snow over all my flower beds!

This is a small selection of the photos I took--will be posting more in the coming days.

these next 2 tulips were my favorites

Love this color!

These are funny looking little flowers--I have a few growing near some Hyacinth.  And a trip to the area always includes a stop at Trader Joes so I can stock up on stuff I can't get closer to home!

TBT-- Bermuda 2002

I went on a cruise to Bermuda with my Mom & Jenny to celebrate their milestone birthdays ( 80 & 50).  My Mom had commented to me that a cruise sounded nice, but she couldn't fly comfortably so we found a trip out of Boston.  What a great way to see Bermuda--it can be very expensive to stay & eat in Bermuda, but this way you get your meals on the ship.  We met many people that had done the cruise multiple times ( don't think I would ever do that!)  The photo is of Gombey dancers that performed in the square in St. George where the ship was docked.Gombey dancers

Macro Monday

All of these flowers were growing along the chain link fence near Sea Hawk Divers.    I don't think there were as many flowers blooming this year when we were on Isla.
Most of these were growing up out of the pavement!
Usually you see hibiscus all over, but saw very few.

Monochrome Monday

Certain things lend themselves to a B & W photo--I love the look of the fishing nets, docks and boats.  My main camera has a B& W setting so one day I turned it on & walked around a bit.  Enjoy!

Wildlife Wednesday--Another Fox photo

These photos are from February 2010.  I happened to look out the window & see this fox walking around outside.  Of course I grabbed my camera & started shooting!  It walked across the driveway and into the field behind the barn.
Then it just stopped and looked around...I kept taking photos...Little did I know until I put them onto the computer that it had stopped to go to the bathroom! Next photo!  I blew this up and entered it into the Goshen Fair photo contest--got lots of comments about it!

You never know what you will see!
