This is one of my favorite rose photos.  I think it was taken  with a film camera or maybe one of my 1st digitals!

Sugaring Time!

Drove around town a little this morning & it seems everwhere you looked there were sap buckets hanging on the trees....there's nothing like real maple syrup  made in the area!

Mail Delivery

I guess I never really thought about how the mail arrived on Isla--knew it had to come over on one of the ferries, but was surprised to see the delivery to the Post Office one morning!  But then I thought about it--how else would it get there--lots of stuff is transported by bicycleta!

Ice, Ice, Baby!

Decided to go to Waterbury yesterday to run errands and get gas.  The price of gasoline has soared here in CT--it's about $3.50-$3.60 a gallon( our gas tax is high), but Stop & Shop grocery store has gas rewards points--you get some for every $$ you spend.  The closest S & S with a gas station is in waterbury...so I went there & only paid $2.80!  On the way I pass quite a few rock formations that had ice flowing out of them.

Only about 1/2 the photos I took are any good--got quite a few of the inside of my car!  Just tried to hold the camera up without looking in the view finder & hoping it would get something!

These are all on the highway in the area where Sandia lives!  There had to have been alot of blasting done to get through the rocks to build these roads...

Because of all the snow still on the roads, there's nowhere to pull over to take photos.  We still have some
6 + foot high snow banks...May have snow until June at this rate!

OK, a few words...wish we were there!

Ice Fishing "Raggie" style!

 There was an ice fishing derby over the weekend on a lake that is near our house.  Decided to go over  & visit with everybody that was fishing--Was a nice day--probably in the high 20's & not much wind!

Lots of people out on the ice--because of all the rain we've had there was no snow on the ice, so walking wasn't easy--of course Alan left his crampons at home in his truck--my boots were fine.....

Lots of tip ups with American flags...

A nice 6 1/2 lb. bass-- it was the eventual winner.

Auger for cutting the holes in the ice--it was about 18" thick!

Sleds are must haves for carrying all the essentials....like food & booze!

Only a few tents and no little houses--this is not like Minnesota!

A Welcome Sight!

Was at a friends house over the weekend & saw this beautiful bird right outside in a tree!  We haven't had cardinals around our house for awhile, so it was a treat to see.
