My Fair Ribbons

Here's some of the ribbons I won at the Goshen Fair....I got 1st place for my apple jelly, grape jelly, blackberry jam, black raspberry jam, blueberry jam and pineapple jam. The 2nd place for strawberry-rhubarb jam
Then I won 2-3rd place in photography--one the picture taken at Alan's shop & the other a cat picture. The fox photo I entered came 2nd for favorite of the show!
had lots of comments on that photo!

Spotted at the Fair

I think this butterfly was just passing through town, but stopped at the fair on Sunday like thousands of others! I was walking near the Dairy barn & saw this beauty on the ground--on a clump of cow manure!

The Fair is Done for Another Year!

Another Goshen Fair is over & it was a great one! We lucked out & had great weather all 3 days--a little windy Sat & Sun, but you can deal with that better than the rain they were predicting. Personally, I won a bunch of ribbons--will post more as the week goes on. But the best part was seeing lots of friends that came to the fair--even though I didn't get to spend much time with anyone! There's always next year!
more to come--today is for cleaning up the office & getting ready to print & mail premium checks!

It wouldn't be a fair.....

without LOTS of food choices--good & bad--I guess it all depends on how you look at it! Fried oreos I think I could eat...but I'd probably draw the line at fried cheesecake! Lots to choose from for beverages......( we do have beer also)

And the Spudmobile....baked potatoes with lots of toppings!

I eat alot over the weekend, but as a rule I walk approx. 5 miles a day around the fairground so I work off many calories ( at least that's how I justify it!)

Sunset!

Absolutely beautiful sunset at the fairgrounds tonight! The photo doesn't do it justice--was much redder in person!

Surprise Blooms

I went out to pick some tomatoes & noticed a few new blooms......This is the 2nd batch of roses on this bush.... And my butterfly bush just flowered for the 1st time! I got it 2 years ago !

Fair Food--the Preview!

People have started moving their food concessions in, so I thought I'd walk around and see what's here so far....Leo's Luch--this vendor has been at the Goshen Fair for over 50 years ( 2 different owners) and is the only one that's allowed to open on Thurs & Fri night to serve the workers & exhibitors that are bringong in their exhibits. i think some Goshenites just come up to visit on Friday night! Don't know if that will happen this year--Fri is when Hurricane Earl is supposed to hit CT--but we are in the extreme NW corner of the state so it won't be as bad here as at the shore ( fingers crossed!)

Fair People Onion Rings--about the only fried food I eat during the fair--can't resist these!

Anew vendor this year--will have to try! I eat alot over the course of the 3 day fair, but try to do alot of walking around, so don't usually gain much!

On a hot day these sundaes hit the spot!

More to come!
