Holiday Windows

Lets start at Barneys New York.  Their windows theme is The Food Network.  I learned it's hard taking photos at dusk, through the glass & over the heads of the crowds!

In this window you can see figures of Bobby Flay and Emiril Lagasse and others.  Enlarge the pictures & you can see lots more detail
And this is all the femaile chefs--Rachel Ray, Martha Stewart & others...
 And the windows at DKNY

Random shots around NYC

I just realized I hadn't done a post on my blog today & I certainly have lots of photos still to share from NYC.  So just a few random ones for now
My friend Paula outside the theater for the Pee Wee Herman show
We ate lunch in this charming little restaurant called Brazil--it was a great place to rest our weary feet for awhile--and the food was great!
It's on W 46th street which is also called "Restaurant Row"--many, many restaurants along the street.

Sign I saw on the buses --couldn't resist a photo!

Big Bird was on the edge of Central Park just waving to all the passersby

Watched this man wrapping the trees with lights

Some holiday windows tomorrow!

Times Square, NYC

Arrived in the city around 11 am & walked down to Times Square.  It's always a bustling spot no matter the time of year.  On Saturday there were long lines at the ticket place--for cut rate broadway show tickets.
We had taken the bus in & our bus driver said his company ( Peter Pan) had 20 buses there!  A few of the billboards.
Someone in a bowling pin costume--advertisement for a bowling alley in Times Square--who knew!  Check out the ladies in their fur coats--I thought about wearing mine--it's a persian lamb jacket--but decided to go with a longer coat--wise choice!

 The ABC studios
More billboards.  there was one really cool billboard I only got in a video-- and not the MX portion --it changed to several different things & one was an ad for Mexico--I only saw it once--waited a few minutes for it to come back, but never saw it again.
And what's a trip to Times Square without a photo of the Naked Cowboy?    When we walked around in the late morning we didn't see him, but a few hours later we passed through again & there he was....surrounded by women getting their pictures taken with him....can't believe he wasn't cold!

An Update & A Surprise!

Just wanted to let everyone know that Rafe is doing much better.  The Vet has gotten his diabetes under control--now he only has to go once a month to get checked!
He's feeling much better & almost back to normal--just isn't climbing full flights of stairs ( that's because of arthritis)
And the surprise...I went into our sunroom to start cleaning out plants & lo & behold I found these tomato flowers on one of the plants I was going to throw out!  We've had tomatoes growing in there til December--I just bring the pots in from outside--hopefully we'll have enough sun so that at least one will grow!

Hudson River

Before we went to Vasilows  yesterday, we took a ride to the Hudson River.  I had read that there was a lighthouse in the river nearby & thought I'd like to see it.  Here it is--doesn't it look like one of those little houses you buy to burn incense in? Hudson Athens Lighthouse
It was a drab kind of day , I took a few photos of the river, too.  Here's looking up the river.
And an interesting tree with a branch hanging off--there were 3 or 4 trees that had branches hanging like this.

Vasilow's

Yesterday my friend Deb & I made another trip to Vasilow's--it's about a 1 hour drive from my house & we didn't stop talking the whole way!Our husbands have been friends since childhood--we met at my wedding & then were out of  touch for 20 years....but picked back up 2 years ago like it had been a week!  We drove down the main drag to the Hudson River--there's a lighthouse there I wanted to see.  Then back down Columbia St to Vasilow's
 All decorated for the holidays!
The smells when you open the door are intoxicating!  Our 1st item was pepitas...between us we bought all that were on display.  Both of us started piles on the counter.....
 Yummy looking gingerbread men...
Jim was in back making something sweet when we arrived, but came out shortly after & had his camera & snuck a photo of me--that doesn't happen often!

A few of the goodiies to choose from!  We had a great time talking about Isla & our experiences there.  And Deb & I told them we'd be back in the spring when we could walk around & explore a little more!
I've been good & only had a chocolate dipped coconut pattie so far!
