Like a Statue

 I walked by the back door & noticed Tuck sitting upright on the hill.  This spot is always nice & warm from the sun, so he curls up there for a nap when it's nice out.  Here's a wider view of him on the hill!

Busy Beavers

 A few more photos from my trip to White Memorial last week.  About 1/2 way around, we spotted this beaver lodge ( called a leantal it is only entered from underwater)

 Then as we walked a little more we aw evidence of where they got the trees & branches to build it!

 Another view.  Didn't see any beavers swimming around though.  We have a gravel bank near our house with ponds & I have seen a few in there!

Talavera!

 I have a small collection of Talavera pottery--I've been bringing home a few pieces every year from Mexico.   When I went to the CT Flower show earlier  this month, I spotted a vendor who was selling LOTS of Talavera!    I was in Heaven--so far have only brought home smaller pieces that would fit in my carryon bag, so his selection was a treat!

 I ended up buying 3 pieces & my friend that was with me bought another piece for me for my birthday...I won't get it til Sept!  Below are 2 of the pieces I got--my hibiscus is going in the taller one & probably some herbs or annuals in the long one.  The piece I'm getting as a gift is a ginger jar all out of butterflies --attached at the wings & all cutwork.  Will be used with a light inside --I better get a photo of it--kind of hard to describe!
The vendor told me he doesn't do many shows, but does have a warehouse sale a few times a year....can't wait to go to one of those!

Saturday Single

A few days ago I went to White Memorial  with a friend to walk the boardwalk & take some photos.  Luckily I had taken my zoom lens because the swans were way out in the pond!  When we first walked out where we could see them there were some kayakers out on the pond & the swans took to the air--never seen that before!

First Daffodil of the Season!

 We have a small grouping of daffodils near the base of some birch trees that were planted over 25 years ago  & are still thriving.

 This is the 1st one to bloom!

Morning Sky

 A few days ago I looked out the back door & saw this in the early morning sky.   It was something a little different--It was just like a line drawn in the sky!  First photo taken on regular setting & second taken on the Vivid setting on my camera--makes the colors pop in the photo!

Spending my Time

Spending my time with the rake & bucket--doing lots of yard work--so many pine needles to clean up!  But the weather is great so I can't complain too much!

Busy Day!

I've spent lots of time the last few days doing yard work & am nowhere near done!  Today I've taken a short break to make some phone calls regarding my Aunt's memorial service ( it's on April 21st on the Cape) & spent a little time trying to find a photo of her on my computer  to have at the service. No Luck-- I know I've seen it, will look again another day.  It's March 20th & I've been outside in sandals &  a sleeveless dress--I'm not complaining!

 Yesterday when I was driving home from grocery shopping I noticed "our" large flock of turkeys  at the neighbor's house.  Of course I had my camera with me so I stopped on the road & got out to take some photos!  Most all of these are cropped because if you get to close they run away!

 My maternal grandfather's name was Peter Patrick Carney--do you think he was Irish?  Don't own much of anything kelly green except these socks that I haul out once a year!  Erin Go Bragh!  The Gaelic  is "Éirinn go brách, meaning Ireland Forever

Tranquility

 I've always loved this spot  here in town--I drive by it on the way to the vets & I  have made that trip numerous times over the years!  Today I had to go pick up a refill for Rafe's Deramaxx pills & when I went by I noticed a for sale sign. I told Alan about it when I got home.......

So I decided I'd look it up to see how much it is being sold for ( not that we're looking!--just wanted to know)
Here's what I found.....  Well, I can dream can't I?  On the site I looked at it was the most expensive place on the market here in town!    Yikes!

 I walked outside late this morning & saw that the croci had bloomed!  It's only mid march!  Crazy weather we're having here in NE! ( and many other parts of the world...)

Touch Up Tuesday

 Back to posting more photos from our Isla Mujeres trip. I enhanced a few of these photos ( hence the name Touch Up Tuesday!)--so first is the enhanced & then the original.
 Late one afternoon I went down to Playa Norte to watch the sunset and spotted this bird standing on the pylons right in front  of Buho's.

 At first I thought that one of his feet must be stuck somehow--watched the bird for what seemed like a long time--probably was only 20 minutes

 Just held its wings open like it was airing them out!

 I turned away to see some of the sunset & when I looked back, it had flown away!

A Bit of Nostalgia

 Do you remember having these as a kid?  I do & quite often if you have great memories of something from childhood, it's not the same as an adult.  I bought a package of these --watermelon slices at Vasilows last week--boy are they tasty!  I think even better than I remember!  I love coconut & that's what these are--probably mostly coconut & sugar--yummy!

Maybe We Need to Have Thanksgiving early!

Had to stop in the driveway this morning while these turkeys were crossong from one field to the other!  Several of them were hefty including this one!

Mexican Radio ( restaurant )

After shopping at Vasilow's we decided to stop for lunch in downtown Hudson ( NY).  I had looked online for info about a few restaurants & then asked Jim & Kate for their recommendations.  Mexican Radio was on my list & they said it was good & not far away so we headed there.  The above bottle was one of the hot sauces on the table!

The decor--the front part of the place had very high ceilings --the back half was a 2nd level with more tables.

A fairly extensive menu with the usual Mexican dishes--tacos, burritos, enchiladas and flautas.  And  they also had Plantain Rellenos, Pollo Azteca and what we both decided to try ....Carne Asada  Fries!

Carne Asada Fries 
  Chunks of grilled steak, marinated in a tomato-garlic chili sauce, served on a hefty bed of crispy fries, then topped with melted cheese, tomato salsa, guac and crèma. Served with a side salad.  it was delicious & very filling!

The bar.  We had a great time on this road trip & will probably go back when it's a little warmer so we can explore the town a bit more!  Thanks to all for the great hospitality.

Vasilow's Confectionery

Yesterday Sandy & I went on a road trip to Hudson, NY to Vasilow's Confectionery & we have a blast!  Lots of easter candy & other fun stuff!      Vasilow's

 Here's Jim & Kate--the owners.  We know them because of a mutual love of Isla Mujeres.  It's always great to meet people in the area we live in in the US that travel to Isla.  I decided it wasn't too far away from where I live & drove over 2 years ago...have gone back a few times since!

 More Easter candy.

 A cute Easter display.  i think we each walked around 10 times deciding on what we were going to buy.  And then stopping to talk alot in between!

 Sandy mulling over the choices.....  We stayed for at least 2 hours & had a great time visiting.  And already stated planning to go back in a few months!

They also have a business( website) called Almost Isla where they sell pepitas, Punta Sur Peanut Brittle and various other chocolates named for places on Isla  Almost Isla shop.  I got 6 bags of peanut brittle!
